Spring, last year:
Three lavender hyacinths bloom
in these limpid blue waters,
so beautiful, I let them be.
A week or so ago, deponti shared a delightful ‘tanka’ (a Japanese poetry form) written by one of her LJ friends, asakiyume. Thought I will try my hand at it, and here’s the result. I am not sure it qualifies as a tanka. Nevertheless, I liked the way it turned out.
I have tried my hand at haikus before, with some success. But it is massively difficult to express a thought in 17 syllables. A tanka offers a bit more leeway, methinks.
