A model of Robert Stephenson’s steam locomotive “Rocket”. When the train made it’s first run, a man on a horse rode in front of the train.

Why, you ask? To make sure that people don’t run on/cross the track while the train was running.

The horse therefore is faster than a rocket.

When a fast train was first introduced in India, it chugged along at its fastest speed, and then slowed down and stopped. “Why?” asked the passengers, and were told,” because a cow sat down on the tracks.” The cow was chased away and the train picked up top speed again…and then slowed down and stopped. “Why?” asked the passengers, and were told, “That cow has come and sat down again…”
