Good morning A…

The dim traces of bright lights
burning in the apartment corridor
and street lights fading outside
in the morning’s first rays,
come slowly into view, as he steps
gingerly out of bed, and squints
at the clock in the hall,
just so he can know, time
is on his side, and can afford
to be lazy just this longer,
enough to return to his bed
and hug an unseen angel, holding on
to a cosy blanket for dear life, moaning
underneath, in that disturbed fashion,
peculiar to sleep interrupted
by an alarm, intended, for a duffer
who imagines an hour of tennis
beats waking together.

  1. ah, trade-offs! There should be times when you can ditch that love-all situation for a love-one situation!

Very evocative post…substitute tennis with gym, walk, whatever..the scenario is the same everywhere!

  2. I love you, dear friend, for writing this.

You just put me in this indescribably beautiful state of mind.

    Thank you.

  3. with a little re-arrangement….that would become a really lovely poem, you know. your love for A speaks from the lines. Had to add this compliment as well as just commenting about how true that situation is.

I once posted about how people always express their love for their children but are so cagey about their love for their spouses/partners. I am glad you posted this.

  4. sublime! 🙂
