Dusk settles in on the highway. The orange pause of the evening soaks into the traffic lights.
(with apologies to Basho)
🙂 Play around with that a little more, and you won’t have to apologise to Basho!!
But it’s haiku worthy na?
Actually, that’s quite nice. Playing around is not as easy as I thought it would be 🙂
adab, adab! 🙂
Let me hasten to add that I have the advantage of being inspired by Basho as a side-effect of Tokyo subway travel:
This one, for example, is inspired by,
“How quiet it is. The sound of the cicadas soaks into the rocks.”
(, or something like that), courtesy a tourism ad in Yoyogi station.
…Not so great, but I couldn’t let go of the idea. 🙂
The scent of sunset washes over. An amber sea alerting me to the fading lights.
(i know the colour is not amber, but let’s assume it is so!!!!!)
Lovely haiku btw.
You see how Basho uses “sound and soak” together? Not a typical correlation, I would think. Fascinating, isn’t it?
The reason I love haikus & Vikram Seth so is that both are so simple & yet force you to look beyond the ordinary.
