Chinese firm buys IBM’s PC business

China’s personal computer giant Lenovo Group on Wednesday announced in Beijing that it had signed an agreement with IBM to take over the latter’s personal computer business for $1.25 billion.

According to the agreement, Lenovo acquired IBM’s entire global desktop and laptop computer business and related research and development units.

Earlier reports had indicated that Lenovo was trying to take over global information technology giant IBM Corporation’s personal computer business operations.

  1. The PC business had become commoditized, it is a good thing IBM divested it off.

    Now if Apple and IBM tie-up and push the Macs, it would be a REAL interesting development.
