Pico Iyer…

I finally finished The Lady and The Monk yesterday. Probably the longest I have taken to read a book start to finish. Twenty pages a day for twenty odd days. But it was that sort of book. Distractedly aimless, sparse, clean and to be savoured in small sittings – word by word, metaphor by metaphor, similie by similie.

It also reminded me of “Plainsong”, a book by Kent Haruf, an American writer. Plainsong is probably the most poetic novel I have ever read.
