competitive advantage…

A colleague of mine from one of the IIMs has been making a power point presentation for the last 2 weeks. Probably more. Some heavy duty VB scripting embedded within 3 slides besides the general content. He’s spent the last 2 weeks, tweaking these slides, a little here, a little there.

Somebody wants him to position the radio button on top, someone wants it on the left. I can’t help but think of Edward Tuft’s article on the evils of power point. That presentation is a prop to a sales pitch. Rather than work on what needs to be said, you have an MBA grad playing around with a prop for the last 2-3 weeks. I just hope it gets used.

Maybe this is the kind of thing that results in sustainable competitive advantage. It sure makes work incredibly exciting though.
