Aha, that feeling of having accomplished something. It’s been one almighty struggle, and taken me quite a while (2 nights), but finally succeeded in getting to connect to the net from linux. Before you go duh!, let me just say that if you are using an internal modem(winmodem, HSF, call it whatever) trust me you are in for some trouble. The conexant drivers almost made me cry.
Right now I just feel bloody good ‘cos I had asked the systems guy at work, and he admitted that he couldn’t get it to work on his own dual boot PC.
The Red Hat Linux bible was a good buy. LinuxConf is a neat utility. /etc/resolv.conf is a bloody important file.
There are still a couple of things I don’t quite understand, but shall get to that tomorrow. Off to sleep now.
